How I Work

Understanding what lies beneath

My approach brings together psychological inquiry, compassionate awareness, the wisdom of the body and the therapeutic relationship.

We are not simply trying to remove difficult feelings. We are becoming curious about what they may be communicating.

01

Curiosity

We gently explore the beliefs, emotional patterns and adaptations that may be shaping your present experience.

Rather than seeing these patterns as problems to overcome, we begin by understanding why they developed and how they may once have helped you to remain safe, connected or accepted.

02

Embodiment

Not everything we carry can be reached through thought alone.

By bringing awareness to sensations, emotions and the body's responses, we can begin to notice what is happening beneath the story the mind tells and develop a deeper relationship with our inner experience.

03

Relationship

Many of our deepest patterns were formed in relationship and often reveal themselves there again.

The therapeutic relationship offers a space in which these patterns can be explored with honesty, compassion and care; including the ways we may have learned to sacrifice parts of ourselves in order to maintain connection with others.

Coming Home to Ourselves

What if the parts of ourselves we struggle with are not the problem?

Many of the patterns we judge most harshly in ourselves began as intelligent adaptations.

As children, our need for attachment and belonging is profound. At times, maintaining that connection may require us to move away from our own feelings, needs, boundaries or truth.

What protects us then can quietly shape us later.

Therapy offers an opportunity to meet these patterns differently — not by trying to get rid of them, but by bringing compassionate awareness to what they have been protecting.

As we begin to recognise what belongs to the past and what is true in the present, there can be a gradual movement towards greater choice, authenticity and connection with ourselves.

Ways to work with me

01

Counselling & Therapy

Individual therapeutic work for those experiencing emotional difficulty, recurring patterns, relationship challenges, periods of transition, or simply a desire to understand themselves more deeply.

Our work is collaborative and responsive to what emerges, with attention to thoughts and emotions as well as the body's experience.

02

Compassionate Inquiry

Compassionate Inquiry is a trauma-informed psychotherapeutic approach developed by Dr Gabor Maté and Sat Dharam Kaur.

Together we explore the unconscious beliefs, emotional patterns and protective adaptations that may lie beneath present-day difficulties, bringing curiosity and compassion to experiences that have previously been difficult to understand.

03

Psychedelic Integration

Psychedelic experiences can be profound, beautiful, confusing or destabilising; and sometimes all of these at once.

I offer a grounded, non-judgemental therapeutic space in which to explore and integrate experiences that have arisen through psychedelic states, helping you consider their meaning and how they might be integrated into everyday life.

04

Mindfulness &
Embodied Awareness

Mindfulness and embodied awareness can help us develop the capacity to notice our thoughts, emotions and bodily experience without immediately becoming lost within them.

This quality of presence is woven naturally through my therapeutic work, helping us become more aware of what is happening within us in the present moment.

05

Energetic Body Work

An invitation to bring awareness to the subtler experience of the body, noticing sensation, movement, tension and shifts in energy. Through gentle, attuned exploration, we can become curious about what the body may be holding and allow space for what is ready to emerge, settle or change.

Beginning Therapy

Finding the right therapist matters.

Therapy is a deeply personal relationship. Qualifications and approaches are important, but so too is the sense that you can be yourself with the person sitting opposite you.

Our first conversation is an opportunity for you to tell me a little about what brings you to therapy, to ask questions about how I work, and for us to consider whether working together feels right.

You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to work on. Sometimes knowing that something needs attention is enough of a beginning.
